چکیده

Abstract This paper presents the first systematic investigation of effect epidemic shocks on civil violence. The identification exploits exogenous within cell × year variation in conditions that are suitable for malaria transmission using a panel database with month-by-month at resolution 1∘×1∘ latitude/longitude Africa. Suitable increase violence areas populations susceptible to outbreaks. is immediate, related acute phase and largest during short harvesting seasons subsistence crops. Genetic immunities antimalaria policies attenuate effect. results deliver new insights prevention attenuation potential consequences climate change.

Business cycles in Iran: Evidence from asymmetry and correlated shocks

In this Paper, business cycle asymmetry in Iran has been investigated using a nonlinear unobserved component model. In this regard, according to Kim and Nelsonchr('39')s (1999) interpretation of Friedman plucking model (1993), asymmetric transitory component has been modeled and simultaneously the possibility of a correlation between transitory and permanent shocks has also been considered. The...

Because of the unexpected nature of the disease, diagnosis is often delayed and severe ...

Rolling Back a Malaria Epidemic in South Africa

1076 Amid the dire statistics showing a deadly resurgence of malaria, a notable success has been scored in South Africa. In KwaZulu–Natal province, malaria cases increased from about 600 in 1991–1992 to more than 30,000 by 1999–2000 [1]. Then, after household spraying with DDT was implemented, and the new antimalarial combination artemether-lumefantrine (AL) was widely deployed (Figure 1), case...
